Start anyway

In my previous blog, we talked about starting, just beginning whatever you want to do. But the real question is how? Sometimes we genuinely want to do something, yet we procrastinate and never begin. I have experienced this many times. A few days ago, I decided to run 5K. Every time I told myself, “Today I will complete 5K,” I felt exhausted the moment I started. I would quit after 1 to 2 kilometers. That discouraged me, and the next day I would not run at all. After several failed attempts, I changed my approach. I told myself, “Just go for a run. If you feel tired, stop. Even if it is after 100 meters, that is fine.” Surprisingly, I did not stop early. I did not complete the full 5K either, but I ran 4.6 kilometers. The difference was that I removed the pressure. I convinced my brain that it was okay to stop. Once the pressure was gone, I did not feel the urge to quit. I applied the same mindset to other habits. I started reading and allowed myself to stop whenever I felt bored. I be...

One Cup of Tea with Two Toasts

For the past few months, I had been telling myself that I needed to learn how to cook. I thought about it constantly but never actually took any action. One weekend night, I was extremely hungry. Instead of ordering food online, I finally decided to step into the kitchen and make something myself. The moment I entered, I froze. I didn’t know where to begin. I searched countless recipe videos on YouTube, Googled quick dishes, and even asked ChatGPT for ideas. Then a simple thought struck me: Just start with something easy. Poha came to mind. But when I checked the ingredients, I realized I didn’t have half of what I needed. Being new to the kitchen, I couldn’t even find the basic items. So I asked myself, What is the simplest thing I can make right now? Tea. I watched a quick tutorial and began preparing it. Strangely, as the tea boiled, my hunger slowly disappeared. Then I noticed two pieces of toast left in the packet. I paired them with my freshly made tea, and believe it or not, it ...

There Is Always a U Turn

A few days ago, I went to Kutch with my family. I was driving the car, and at one point, I needed to take a right turn. However, I noticed some construction work blocking that side of the road, making it impossible to turn. My mother-in-law kept shouting, “We need to turn right! We need to turn right!” To make things more confusing, Google Maps was giving unclear directions. I realized that if I took a slight left from the main road, I could eventually make the right turn. But in the confusion, I went straight instead. After driving for a few kilometers, I noticed there were no turns available. My wife kept saying we should continue a bit further, but as time passed, it became clear that we were wasting time. She asked, “Why didn’t you take that slight left?” My mother in law added again, “We should’ve taken the right turn.” At that moment, I simply smiled and said, “ There’s always a U turn available. ” From that small incident, I learned something valuable. In life, when we truly lov...

Just Do What You Love

In cricket, 70% of people love batting, 20% enjoy both batting and bowling, and about 9% love bowling. But only 1% truly love fielding and I’m one of them. Let me tell you a short story. A few years ago, my physics teacher once talked about a player named Jonty Rhodes. During a match, the moment the ball touched the bat, Jonty could already calculate where it was going and would dive in that direction. That’s how quick and smart he was. He even became Man of the Match once  just for his fielding. That story made me curious and completely changed how I looked at fielding. Fielding is one of the most important parts of cricket. You save runs, take catches, make run outs  and every single run matters in the game. That’s why I love fielding. I like batting and bowling too, but fielding is something I truly enjoy the most. If you love doing something that others don’t, don’t care about what people think. Just do it, give your best, and enjoy every moment.
